Disaster/Emergency Planning

With more than 20 years of experience in disaster/emergency management our business aims to help individuals, families, community organizations, businesses and small groups of all types in New England plan for disasters.  We offer basic emergency planning, exercises for those plans, event speaking on disaster-related topics and workshops related specifically to basic disaster planning.  

Specialized Services Offered

  • Disaster Plan Development (for individuals, families, organizations, businesses, and more). We use Department of Homeland Security/FEMA-recommended tools and support materials.  By phone, or invite us to your home or your business, and we'll walk through where to get started.  
  • Community Emergency Management (CEM) Planning (for local city and town emergency management offices).  FEMA incident command system (ICS) principles are upheld through our processes. By conference call, or invite us to your office, we'll help you to get started with your planning.  
  • Continuity of Operations Planning-COOP (for local cities and towns).  COOP plans often support CEM planning (above).  We're happy to help you build on or expand existing plans.  
  • Devolution Planning (for local cities and towns).  This plan is redundancy building to supplement COOP planning (above).  
  • Specialized Planning (please contact us with your project).

Exercises & Drills

We offer disaster/emergency management exercises for families, community organizations, businesses and small groups of all types in New England who want to plan ahead for disasters.  Our passion for the field of disaster/emergency management and making communities safe makes us great at what we do.  We believe that planning ahead for disasters by exercising is critical to a higher level of preparedness.

Specialized Services Offered

  • Exercise Writing (for individuals, families, organizations, businesses, and more). We use Department of Homeland Security/FEMA-recommended tools and support materials.  
  • Exercise Facilitation (for individuals, families, organizations, businesses, and more).  FEMA incident command system (ICS) principles are upheld through our processes.  Exercises can be a table top (sitting as a group and walking through a scenario), a functional (setting up and and breaking down physical equipment at, for example, an exercise location), or a full-scale exercise (all participants are working together at a location, for example, exercising a written incident action plan and disaster plan). 
  • Drill Writing & Facilitation (for individuals, families, organizations, businesses, and more). We use Department of Homeland Security/FEMA-recommended tools and support materials.  Drills are individual activities (such as testing a process; for example, using radios, or setting up laptops); one or more drill activities help to support planning a table-top, functional or full-scale exercise (see above).

  • Event Speaking (for families, community organizations, businesses and small groups of all types in New England).  Topics covered include general disaster planning, disasters in New England and beyond, and customized presentations planned around requested needs related to disaster preparedness or response.  Tools are shared (as applicable for each presentation) and may include printed disaster plans (FEMA resources are used), emergency care guides, emergency kits/lists and other disaster related material upon request.  Invite us to your home or office to educate your family or team!  Our presentations are fun and informative.  Please ask us about our customized presentations. 
  • Workshops (complimentary to specialized event speaking/presentations; please see below).

Exam Proctoring

Disaster/emergency management professionals often have a need for proctoring for exams required to achieve the Associate Emergency Manager (AEM) and Certified Emergency Manager (CEM) certifications with the International Association of Emergency Managers.  Testing professionals are reminded that proctoring may be free at local colleges and elsewhere in your community!  

Specialized Services Offered

  • Proctoring.  When free services are unavailable we are happy to proctor your exam if you live in New England.  The cost is $150 per exam plus $.58 per mile round trip from your public-facing location (library or school private room, for example) to Worcester County in Massachusetts.  Please contact us with questions.
